Embarrassed to say that I tried a variety while I was there. Although these cupcakes weren't large they were moist, rich in decadence, not too frilly, and bursting in baked deliciousness. All of the ones I tried had a filling-choc or peanut butter or some other creamy flavor-which was certainly a welcomed surprise. The owner/baker was wonderful to talk to even though she was being inundated with customers. Extra points for providing gluten-free cupcakes. Don't pass this place up!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14048370220850363299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9201837372096074447.post-13230020234109590722012-08-15T16:23:53.324-07:002012-08-15T16:23:53.324-07:00Organon Market in Chester is making gluten free, d...Organon Market in Chester is making gluten free, dairy free, and vegan friendly desserts and baked goods. As the branch mnanager of SGFA and official GFRAP trainer for this area, I am especially on the lookout for both great places to eat as well as problems. As far as OLIVE GARDEN, they do have a gf menu which consists of either salmon or steak with veggies. With the house salad it's a good meal, nicely served, not cheap. Neither potatoes nor rice are available but the portion is large and tasty. SHORELINE DINER (Vegetarian enclave) in Guilford, CT will soon have the GFRAP certification and it's a great place to eat. There is a full gf menu, just ask for it. Kitchen and wait staff have been trained. The owner, Nick Anthis is opening another place in West Haven called GEORGE'S which will also have a gf menu. Here's a couple to be careful about: newly-opened LONGHORN STEAKHOUSE (Waterford, CT), while they do have a gf menu (it is a nationwide chain), the staff has not yet been adequately trained. BURTON'S GRILL in South Windsor, CT, a Boston eatery well-known for their gf menu, has a whole new staff not yet trained. On the other hand, be assured of having a great meal at places like WESTBROOK LOBSTER(Westbrook CT) or BLUE CRAB (Old Saybrook, CT)IF you choose carefully and question the staff as to preparation. Many places are becoming very sensitive to food allergies and will do everything to provide you with a good meal. Finally, JOHNNY AD'S, an Old Saybrook landmark, has 4 dedicated fryers and you MAY safely eat the french fries there. If, upon questioning staff or looking at the menu, you feel uncomfortable, GET UP AND LEAVE! YOU are in charge, you have choices! Many local family-owned places are making efforts to be customer -friendly, so ASK! (See the note about Belle Amici in Guilford, CT).Sybil Nassauhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12697538002523492325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9201837372096074447.post-61558309318136998462009-04-22T10:20:00.000-07:002009-04-22T10:20:00.000-07:00Hi -- Saw your conference post. I thought I would share a list I made a while back about "how to tell if a G-F menue is truly G-F". It is at: http://www.gluten-freesimplicity.com/?p=1818 . I am also now working on a site for Food Service folks to help them with this at http://gluten-freemenu.blogspot.com/ .<br /> I hope this is helpful to your group. My sister, Angela, and I met with Chef Claudio on Friday. He is very excited to offer a full gluten-free menu! His food is delicious and makes my mouth water just thinking about it. In addition, he will be serving gluten-free desserts from Grandmas Goodies -www.getgrandmasgoodies.com. Brownie a la mode to start but mousse and cakes to come if people are interested.
